1988 saw the
formation of the Association and commenced in the Spring with a sale of
registered Welsh Ponies, Cobs and Part-Breds held at Clitheroe Auction
Market, Lancashire.
In May 1988 a
demonstration was arranged, when the Gwyn Rhosyn Stud shared some of their
secrets with members. Lancashire's first stud trip took place and
visits were made to Esceifiog, Friars and Betws-y-Coed Studs, where members
were shown many wonderful ponies and cobs and treated to some marvelous
Welsh hospitality.
The
Association's first Overall Supreme Champion was Miss Bale-Williams' Welsh
Section B Stallion, Baledon Commanchero, with Mr & Mrs Davidson's Lidgett
Merry Maid taking Reserve Supreme at its Spring Show held at Barton
Equestrian Centre.
During recent
years monies have been raised for the funds by arranging Showing Clinics,
Demonstration Evenings, where members were treated to entertainment by Guido
and his wonderful stunt horses, plus Angie Crane's beautiful dressage
stallion Mooiman, Stud Trips and a Tack Auction.
The
Association continues to hold regular Shows and social events and has added
